About Lawyers HK :
Lawyers HK is a volunteer group of solicitors, barristers, in-house counsel and other members of the legal industry. Our main objective is to uphold the rule of law in Hong Kong through education and other means. We also have various charitable initiatives to help the underprivileged.
Terms and conditions:
1.Lawyers HK will keep members informed of its activities, member benefits and other updates at its discretion. A member may decide whether or not to join individual activities or take up benefits.
2.Lawyers HK does not charge membership fees currently. Lawyers HK reserves the right to charge membership fees in the future.
3.The meaning of the term “member” as used in this form is different from the meaning used in the Companies Ordinance (Chapter 622, Laws of Hong Kong). Being a member within the meaning of this form does not mean that the person will become a “member” of Lawyers HK Limited under the Companies Ordinance.
4.Lawyers HK retains absolute discretion on membership admissions and termination.
5.Lawyers HK may amend these terms and conditions upon reasonable notice. If any member does not agree to the amendments, he/she can give notice to terminate the membership.
6.These terms and conditions are governed by Hong Kong law.
7.These terms and conditions are written in English and Chinese. If there is any inconsistency or conflict between the English version and the Chinese version, the English version shall prevail.
Personal data collection statement :
The personal data collected in this form (the “data”) will be used by Lawyers HK for the purposes of considering and processing your application to be a member of Lawyers HK, making logistical arrangements, compiling statistics and keeping records of Lawyers HK’s membership, advancing the goals and purposes of Lawyers HK, keeping you informed of any future activity, member benefit or other update of Lawyers HK at Lawyers HK’s discretion, facilitating communications among members of Lawyers HK and/or other related matters. Completing the application form is not a guarantee that you will be admitted as a member of Lawyers HK.
In making the application, it is obligatory for you to supply Lawyers HK with the data requested in this form except as otherwise indicated. The consequence for you if you fail to supply such data is that Lawyers HK will not be able to process the application.
The data may be provided to such persons within Lawyers HK whose proper business it is to have access to and assist in the processing of the application and related matters and the other purposes mentioned above. The data may also be provided to other persons who may help Lawyers HK in attaining the purposes mentioned above.
Any data that is provided to anyone outside of Lawyers HK will be restricted to what is necessary and not excessive to achieve any intended purpose.
Lawyers HK maintains, among members, certain WhatsApp groups, WeChat group and Facebook closed group, and may launch and maintain group(s) among members in other media, such as Telegram and App. Lawyers HK has the discretion to add or take out any member from such groups. Members should be aware that being included in any such groups will mean that other members in the same groups will be able to view his/her name/chosen name, profile, mobile number, Facebook ID and/or other personal data and confidential information of him/her. The messages and other communications in such groups may also be saved and/or leaked out. Should any member not wish to be or continue to be included in any such group, the member concerned should exit such group and inform Lawyers HK via email at info@lawyershk.com.hk.
You have the right to request access to and correction of the data. Any such request should be addressed to the data protection officer of Lawyers HK at info@lawyershk.com.hk.
